Your bite is the way your teeth meet and come together. A healthy bite allows for the best function of your mouth, teeth and jaw allowing you to chew and talk properly. An unhealthy bite can cause jaw discomfort, enamel wear, speech difficulties, or problems chewing and eating certain foods.

Bite correction with braces or Invisalign clear aligners is important for your overall oral health. Oftentimes we take for granted our bite problems, because we either assume it will go away on its own, or it's the furthest thing from our mind.

Openbite

No matter the case, bite correction will go a long way in growing your confidence and building better health. You may or may not know whether you have a bite problem. It is vital to have your smile checked by an experienced orthodontist.

There are a variety of unhealthy bites that a patient might have:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crowding
  • Crossbite
  • High Canines
  • Spacing
  • Open Bite

You can see more pictures of each bite problem on our bite page.

Sometimes these types of bite problems can lead to much bigger problems, which is why getting ahead of it before it gets worse is the best option. There are some instances when a bite problem, if left untreated, can cause major eating problems and develop TMJ issues and/or headaches.
